Introduction
Seoul Plaza was established in 2004, and is located by Seoul City Hall. The plaza is shaped like the full moon. Seoul Plaza hosts a wide array of cultural events including concerts and exhibitions for residents and visitors. The plaza transforms into an outdoor skating rink every winter, a popular attraction in the city.

The facility houses one rink for beginners and one for advanced skaters, and also hosts various events during its operating hours. There are also convenient facilities like skate rental, outdoor rest area, and outdoor standing area for ice skaters and spectators.

Ice skaters at the rink must wear gloves, and the plaza also offers a training program to teach interested individuals how to have fun while skating safely. To learn how to skate, visit the website to register for a training session in advance.

Seoul Lantern Festival
(서울빛초롱축제)

Introduction
Since its inception in 2009, the annual Seoul Lantern Festival, one of the representative festivals in Seoul, is held throughout the period from the first Friday of November to the third Sunday of November. Every year nearly 3 million visitors can expect to see lanterns along the 1.3 km Cheonggyecheon Stream with various things to see stretching all the way from Cheonggye Plaza and Supyogyo Bridge.

The city of Jeonju is hosting its annual Jeonju Bibimbap Festival from October 9 to 12 at Jeonjuhyanggyo Local Confucian School and the nearby areas within Jeonju Hanok Village. Jeonju Bibimbap Festival is a food festival that promotes Jeonju’s representative food, bibimbap. Under the slogan “Mix with Fun! Enjoy the Taste!,” this year’s festival is prepared with a variety of special programs to promote Jeonju’s famous bibimbap as well as other local cuisine.

The festival’s main events are 3355 Our Village Bibimbap and Foreigner Bibimbap Contest, both taking place on October 9. During 3355 Our Village Bibimbap, visitors can see and taste different types of bibimbap and participate in mixing a giant bowl of bibimbap large enough to feed 1,000 people. For visitors who missed mixing of the giant bibimbap on the first day of the festival, they can take enjoy tasting and taking photos of another giant bibimbap on October 12. As for the Foreigner Bibimbap Contest, 20 participating teams of diverse nationality compete in a contest to make the best bibimbap possible with the ingredients of their choice. Money used to buy the ingredients will be reimbursed by the festival committee. To participate, submit a registration request in advance via e-mail with names, nationality, and number of people in the team.

Several permanent activity events will also be available. In Find Bibimbap, participants can make their own bibimbap with ingredients they won through completing fun missions, such as throwing a rubber shoe into a bucket and yunnori (traditional Korean board game). Other events include making rice cake with the traditional rice-cake mallet and baking.

Admission to the festival venue is free, but certain activities will require a participation fee on-site.

Gimje Horizon Festival, held from late September to early October every year since 1999, takes place at Byeokgolje Reservoir, which is the heart of the Honam rice bowl. The festival aims to show the importance of Korea’s farming culture, which is a foundation of the nation, with the theme of sky and land meeting at the horizon. The festival also aims to promote the regional image and economy. Many dynamic and active programs are available for festival-goers to participate in before the golden horizon.
